Both of my children went to this school (a son and a daughter). Both have confidence that they can read, write and do math very well. Our experience was very personable with the teachers and the administative staff. ~a parent

Windsong has a widespread bullying problem. The administration is not willing to address it either. Teachers are not effectively monitoring the students (they're too busy on their phones or talking), nor is there any additional administrative oversight that would allow the school to actually see and intervene when the bullying occurs. Instead they rely on student stories to assess each event in the rare case that a student is brave enough to report it. That's highly unreliable and ineffective at best. Those that do report get labelled as tattletales, which leads to under-reporting, hence making it easy to turn a blind eye.The playground is a big empty field where the students have nothing age appropriate to do at recess. Instead they play games that lend themselves to bullying the smaller kids. The administration is well aware of these issues, yet refuses to take action. They prefer to pretend that the bullying is really the kids "not getting along." The counselor is nowhere to be seen. There is no character committee or bullying programming beyond one seminar early in the year which I highly doubt has any evidence to support that it actually works. Friendswood ISD can and should do better than this. It's not enough to be great at teaching to the State tests. Our kids deserve better.

Windsong is a school that promotes an old image of elitism and academic greatness but ask parents how their kids feel doing there, and the answers are staggering. After two children attending for over a year, this school has been a big mistake. The counselor is nonexistent. There are bullies that are allowed to consistently be mean to other kids, girls drama is prevalent in classrooms, character doesn't really count, and this terrible environment destroys kids self esteem.I do not wish any child to experience what I've witnessed at Windsong. There needs to be some intervention and a sounding strong counselor put into place that drives character and eliminate ALL bullying. It's impossible to state that academics are terrific as when kids emotional needs are not met and classrooms are filled with drama, the kids learning is negatively affected. This school drives academics by strictly focusing on testing. More testing is done at this school then witnessed at other top schools in the state of Texas.

This school definitely "teaches to the test", and does so successfully. However, that is all that they do. Once the testing is over, they show movies in school, such as "Frozen" and "Despicable Me 2", which I found shocking. There is no band or orchestra. The physical education classes are enormous, and the "specials" teachers are shared with other schools in the district. If you would like your child to get a quality, well-rounded education, you will not find it here. What you will get is simply something deemed "adequate" by the state of Texas. If you are moving from the Northeast, don't be fooled by the ratings and test scores, remember they are only comparing this school to others in Texas. The school is very resource poor, and the swagger, bravado, and superior attitude in a place where education isn't valued really is annoying.
