I am a student at Garland High School. I love this school. Sure there might be a little gang activity, but the spirit and tradition here is unmatched. But beware, if you arent in an IB class, you wont get bus transport.

This is considered the best school in the district. That's not saying much. Some of the teachers involve religious beliefs in their classes. There is a church right beside the school for that; a church school. The English Pre Ap classes give a lot of tedious work, a lot of it being homework. The English teachers also constantly ask for books that they will never even use, which is a waste of the parents' money. Most of the core class teachers also make the kids carry separate books and binders; they usually want at least 2 inch binders along with their textbook, which can cause a lot of stress carrying all the required material from room to room.

My daughter is a Junior at GHS. She is actively involved in the IB program, choir and drill team. The extra curricular offerings at GHS are top notch. They have one of the best choral departments in GISD, placing 13 students in the Texas All-State Choir in 2013-14. Students and parents alike are encourage to be involved. The tradition is rich at GHS and the school spirit is fabulous.
