I'm sad for the others who commented on this site. GISD (GMS & GHS specifically) were great schools for our children. The staff and administration go out of their way to know the students and make them feel like they belong. Don't let the rural Texas setting fool you; this area is a melting pot of different races, backgrounds and life experiences. Kids truly KNOW the other kids, regardless of the "group" they're in, who they hang out with, or what their strengths/weaknesses are. Do they socialize regularly? Probably not, but they cheer for each other on the court, at the music contest and in the classroom. They realize, perhaps better than most adults in large cities, that when they work together & lift each other up, it's for the good of them all.

They bully teens like a military school this small town has shown to be unfare to kids to are academically challenged. They are all about money and winning awards .How about being into the students and not caring about making the US news ,they send letter stating there #1 in texas high schools and research show they only have a bronze metal to be placed in the running as many other schools do.It's sad !! Small town mentality has never stepped out of Giddings to see just how prejudice they are. They say preparing for college by have them shave, cut their hair and wear certain cloths. Giddings needs to visit the college and see very intelligent college students and how they dress. Long hair ,beards, tattoos and funky clothing. So get off of the preparing for college bull.Learn about your student and stop bulling.Stop trying to get free money for funding .
