Hamilton has had a reputation for being a great school, but I couldn't say the same. I've been a student at this school for 3 years now. I haven't had the best experience here, and I regret coming here. This school has many extracurricular activities, which is a plus, but this school's academic approach is quite concerning. The classes do NOT prepare you for high school, most of the things you learn in 8th grade are supposed to be taught in 6th grade. The teachers put some effort into teaching the students, but the majority of students don't put effort into learning. This school has multiple high school credit courses, which is another plus. The teachers assign little to no homework; students get almost no practice in.As someone who is currently enrolled in Vanguard, the Vanguard classes here at Hamilton aren't truly that special and only teach the basic curriculum, no more than that. For any academically advanced student who is currently looking into Hamilton, you deserve a better education. As for the students, most of them are very misbehaved and receive little to no discipline. Many students skip classes and do not get caught. I truly wish this school put more effort into disciplining the students and also stopping the large amounts of fights that occur on campus. The students are extremely toxic and lack any sense of empathy, and they steal other people's things. It's very easy to get bullied here, and most students who bully do not receive consequences. Overall, this school does not have a great response to bullying and fights. The school does not care for its students when it comes to giving them resources. For example, instead of getting proper lanyards, we were given STRINGS which we had to PAY for. The bathrooms in the girl's locker room offer little to no privacy. This school is very dirty because students trash the entire place. The students wet toilet paper and throw it on the ceiling in bathrooms. There's also gum all over the place, and I genuinely feel bad for the janitors. The seats in the cafeteria have been taken off by the students. The cafeteria always stinks and the floors are always dirty, many fights occur there. The students here have no sense of respect for their staff, classmates, and janitors and constantly disrespect the teachers. There are many rude staff members here as well, the receptionist hardly picks up the phone when we call. Please take this advice from me– a student who knows this school inside and out. Thank you.

My child has continued to excel at Alexander Hamilton Middle School, it is a Vanguard magnet school and focuses on STEAM (they added the “A” for they now have a focus on the Arts as well). They also focus on their Dual language program and students can take courses in Spanish (math and science) plus a Spanish course for Native Spanish speakers. They also offer an array of pre-ap courses to prep them for high school. Parents please don’t pass by Hamilton without a second look, our sports teams are A Plus material with our cheer squad and Dance teams phenomenal!! Excellent staff which goes above and beyond for our children, they take part in many community events and fundraisers, go Huskies!

Students are extremely disrespectful, and the so called "gifted/talented" program is composed of anything but gifted or talented kids. There is zero academic or behavioral accountability and follow through. Students are passed on and up regardless of any true mastery of content. Stay away from this school if you want your truly gifted/or talented child to have any hopes of competing in a quality high school. Unless you like football. The Huskies know how to win football games. Wait...can you say academic intelligibility violations?

I substituted for 7/8 grade recently. The students are extremely rude and disrespectful to adults and to each other. Students come in and out of the classroom with no regard for the adult in the room. This left a bad first impression.
