My daughter is in the 2nd grade and loves it. She has been at Hobby since Pre-K. At first I was very disappointed during the Pre-K year but my heart has changed after kinder. The teachers are awesome and really LOVE their kids. The new principle has implemented new rules that I have a problem with. Then again I accept the change for safety reasons. The new principle is really trying to better the school so the parents need to do their parts at home to better the kids at school. I've heard horror stories about the school and new principle but I've had nothing but success. My daughter is a straight A student and I expect a lot from her at 7 years of age. With the expectations of the teachers principle and myself for her she's doing great. I love it.

My daughter is a straight A student at Hobby and I have not come into contact with one teacher that I can say anything bad about. They need to update their website and keep parents informed about activities at the school. That HISD phone system where it leaves a voice message is not good at all. When I get home, I have all kinds of cut off messages. For the parent that says her child fell far behind at Hobby, where were you night when they were doing homework? If you take time with them to do homework at night, you should be able to quickly understand that something is not right. As parents we have to be in control of their education. I think they could replace some of the people in the office. You can never call them and get an answer to any question

Disorganized. School officials do not care, and make an effort unless your child is well behaved. Teacher cheats on standardized testing instead of teaching children. My child fell far behind in this school, so I have to teach him even the basics at home. Before he came to this school he had all As and Bs in a gifted and talented class. Now he's a year and a half behind and has to have his teacher give him the answers in order to make the same scores he made on his own at a different school. All in all, if I had a choice, I would definitely not send my son here, since the are nowhere near challenging academically, and do not prepare their students for future college carreers. The only reason the teacher rating is 2 instead of one, is that there are a teacher or two that are quite capable, but being help back the lack of resources and proper leadership and facilities.
