Simply outstanding! My kids love going to school each day. They are happy kids who are doing well and participate in school activities. The school provides a strong academic focus and a welcoming atmosphere. I really like the new things the new principal has brought to the school too. The parent newsletter is good and keeps me informed on what's happening. We are excited for next year.

Ever since the new principal came in 2018, the school doesn't do anything to help with the community or student parent relationships. The principal took away the award ceremonies for 1st thru 4th grade. So parents and students can no longer look forward to that in school celebration of all the hard work they did that year. The principal also removed the parents being allowed to eat with their students. The only day allowed is on Friday. So if a parent can never get a Friday off from their job, then I guess you can take your child out of school and play hookie to have a lunch date with your child. The communication with the parents also went down hill, we are no longer notified of special dress events, and it wasn't just me, several parents were lost ever since the new principal came in. When I asked her about the communication issue. She said that she says it over the announcements and where am I when the announcements come on. I'm at work. Personally I thinks the new principal needs more training. A school is supposed to encourage the parent and student relationship and she has completely disregarded that.

My daughters went to this school and I found this school to be amazing. teachers are more than helpful and the principal is very attentive with the kids. Any issues that arose while my daughters were there, it was properly discussed and taken care of.

My son attended this school and it was a nightmare. He was in the pre-k program and the HISD teacher called repeatedly for the most minute things like not coloring a picture or coloring outside the lines. She immediately wanted conferences with the principal, for little things. Early on she hung up on my, and at one point she left a message stating that I was either too incompotent, or incapable of completing the homework correctly. Being a teacher myself, I know what the criteria is for parent teacher relations, and I also know the process of documenting a student out of a school, or into a category of special ed. I really believe this teacher was incapable of handling my son because he was a typical rambunctious 4 year old. I also believe she behaved this way because we are black. I didn't want to believe it but I now do. He now hates school because of this teacher, and I wouldn't put him throught that again. Ketelson is a good school for parents that need someone to tell them how to parent, and don't mind being bullied.
