Pondarosa elementary school is a small school it's rated 2015 a B+ in the Spring ISD district which is great compared to most of the elementary schools around Pondarosa. Every school has its issues however I firmly believe that an involved parent is a happy student who progress as well and enjoys school. The staff and teachers and their assistants are always kind in the two years that our child has attended on the road so we have had no issues. We are looking forward to her second grade year.

I am just appalled at the quality of teaching; my niece attended this year and was failing every assignment in reading, yet her teacher never once contacted my sister to let her know there were issues. Instead the faculty stated that the failure to complete assignments and receive passing grades is the child's responsibility because the teachers don't have time to contact each individual parent. I agree the work is the child's responsibility but contacting the parent of a struggling child is the TEACHER'S responsibility. I was under the impression that the school had "cleaned house" and rid themselves of ritualistic faculty members; evidently the habit of sweeping failing children under the rug has extended to "educators" as well.

I find the test scores from previous years hardly reflective of what was likely produced as of late. My child is on the honor roll (GT & AR) and his test scores were "average" on each section of the STAAR exam. I cannot imagine how the other children fared if what this school passes as "Accelerated" & "Advanced" garnered C's and B's on the state exam. This school spent the entire year teaching the kids how to pass the state exam and only just began teaching the actual 4th grade curriculum in the last 6 weeks of school. This once thriving educational facility is now nothing more than a daycare riddled with careless teacher's just putting in enough effort to get a paycheck.
