This school strives to find the balance between the fast-paced curriculum and finding ways to allows kids to be kids. KatyISD really seems to push students at an academic pace faster than is developmentally appropriate, and the teachers at Shafer - at least the ones we've had experience with - do their best to keep all of that in check. It's a wonderful place where children grow in their character, and the school's namesakes are a huge part of that. We feel very fortunate our boys have such a great environment in which to learn.

This school has great teachers and a wonderful front office staff. My two daughters love the school and their teachers challenge them to learn. Mr and Mrs Shaffer are part of almost every event at the school making it feel like a family. We feel luck to be able to send our kids to this school. I would recommend this school to anyone.

Rezoned from Stanley to Shafer, what I can say? I miss Stanley with all my heart! At Shafer, teachers (at least my kid's two teachers) take more than 48 hours two reply emails, principal? Still waiting on a reply after a week I emailed her. VERY DISORGANIZED! Nothing compared to Stanley, unfortunately I will have to sell and buy a new house so my kids can attend Stanley, and not in our plans right now. Mr and Mrs Shafer are always present, marvelous couple! I hope they get to change and do things better.

We have had a wonderful experience with two boys at Shafer. We are very involved parents in academics and sports and love this environment that the Principal, her team, and the Shafers have carefully created. Example: With one son's class, we noticed at the beginning of the year that we were receiving the class newsletter in the middle of the week, a bit late to get involved as a parent in the week's coming assignments and material. All it took was a call to the Principal who is very involved and excited about the school. We immediately began receiving the newsletters ahead of the week without miss. These are the details that make a school great. The Principal's meticulous involvement , the high quality teachers many who live in the area, and the Shafers makes this an A+ school and tops in Katy ISD. And let's not forget the parents who are very involved.
