This is the best elementary experience we as a family have ever had. It's a supporting and friendly environment for our children, and the teachers obviously really care about their learning and are very enthusiastic. There is appropriate use of tech, not too much or too little. Even in the upper grades there is not much homework, nor is there a lot of negative emphasis placed on testing; in spite of this, my kids' test scores soared. Compared to other environments we've been in, including KISD schools, I rank this campus #1 and wouldn't leave it for anything.

Both of my children went to this school, one since Kindergarten and one from Second grade until graduating to Middle School. We only had one truly bad teacher the entire time. However, the KISD administration and the Principal are killing this school. The 'we must make the highest STAAR test scores possible', the constant money grab, the ridiculous pressure being put on both students and teachers and the ridiculous number of students zoned to go to this school (last year nearly 1500) no one can keep up. The kids want to learn. Parent involvement is huge. Kids don't want to go because the environment is awful. We loved our teachers. We had an excellent response from the Vice Principal and Counselor. KISD as a district needs a major overhaul and Principal Ricks needs to go with it.

Too much teaching to the test. Administration is cold at best along with the front office staff. Issues brought to their attention are ignored. Teacher turnover is outrageous! Be QUIET, walk in a straight line, don't forget anything in your backpack and need to get it. Lunch is a joke and kids can't even visit with their friends because it's too loud! Kids can't be kids, just little learning to take test robots.

High teacher turnover. Principal who ignores the issues and even when brought to her attention she dismisses them. Kids are a number and lost in this very overcrowded school. I pay a lot in taxes at this fairly new school to have my kids spend 2 years in portable buildings. Too much teaching to the test. Too much homework. If work is not completed they get to set out at recess. Way too many fundraisers!! Marks are for crazy issues like needing to get something from your backpack, talking during lunch, talking outside the portables. Lunch is conducted some days in complete silence. They use a bull horn and yell for quiet and warning system which is crazy! Angela Kovar from the admin staff is about the only one who listens and then her hands are tied and the principal won't let things get fixed. We pulled our child and she's thriving at her new school!
