We started this school at the beginning of the 2016/17yr. Before school even started we had issues with being told one thing only to be told something completely different later, about stuff I had repeatedly asked for clarification, was guaranteed it was one way only to be told later it wasn't. I chose this school based on the other reviews & other research. I haven't completely made up my mind about this school or if we will be returning next year. The curriculum moves incredibly fast, no time for kids to absorb concepts & for the upper grades most of their assignments are done thru various apps. I'm curious to see how the standardized testing is handled. I will say the teachers my kids have do seem engaged & respond quickly to any questions/concerns. But it seems a lot of teachers are pretty rude to the kids right off the bat instead of trying to find out what is going on then being stern if necessary. I had to step in once b/c a staff member started yelling at my kids b/c they were "walking the wrong direction" on the sidewalk even though other kids were walking the same direction, when I approached & told her why they were going that way her attitude changed instantly to super nice. My older kid is stressed out about going to school b/c the teachers can be rude, save for a handful, & the kids are just awful, they are mean, rude, cuss in class w/o any reprimand. There was also a girl fight in PE & no one was sent to the office. I think the way an additional kinder class was added was handled very poorly, its something that should of happened before school even started but it seems the principal is a "her way or the highway" kind administrator. The front office staff is cordial. The librarian is fun but the kids only get 15-20min to check out books. Parent volunteers & the PTA are great. There are a LOT of fundraisers, at least this semester, hopefully fewer next semester. Lastly, more of a district thing, but the only break the kids have had so far was the 3 days @ Thanksgiving, even when charter schools w/in the district & surrounding districts had a day off KISD did not, it has made for a long semester. Also, 15 minutes for recess is way too short, by the time the kids get lined up to go out & then the time it takes to line up to go in, leaves very little time to play/socialize. If I think about it I will update my review at the end of the school year.

Love, love, love TWE! Students are happy, confident, and engaged learners. All academic needs are met and role models can be found down every hall or around every corner. Great school!

As parents of three children who attend TWE, we could not be happier with what this school community has to offer. Each of our children have different strengths, weaknesses, and interests, but each are thriving at TWE. Our faculty does an amazing job of connecting with students and encouraging them to be all that they can be. Our administration is thoughtful, understanding the importance of keeping our children safe, but also welcoming ,allowing and encouraging lots of parent involvement. Our parents are engaged, actively supporting our children, one another and the staff of TWE. Our family feels blessed to be a part of TWE and confident that our children are receiving the best KISD has to offer!

It is very sad that the colored kids and families are discriminated by teachers who educate the kids and teach them good and bad! When a teacher doesn't like your child, the kids will know but if the parents also have a similar experience that says a lot about the culture in the School. This is the 2nd year in a row that my kid have faced discrimination from the teachers. I didn't believe until I have experienced the same from them. Fortunately, the discrimination didn't impact my kid's grades but he/she is left with a negative experience of discrimination at a very young age.
