Awful!!!!! This school is a nightmare!!! It’s more like a juvenile detention facility. My child was so scared to go to school that he was throwing up every morning and crying. They yell at the kids for simple things like hair 1/2” too long or shirt not being tucked in. They’re more worried about their rules (which are extremely stringent) then they are teaching the children. They give detention for almost anything a child does that isn’t EXACTLY what the teacher demanded. They don’t accommodate children with special needs. They lie to the parents. The counselor is absolutely worthless. I’ve called many people to complain and don’t get responses, including the superintendent of the district. If you’re looking for a good school for your child(ren), do NOT send them to NISD!

We are currently looking to move out of the district just to allow our kids to be kids. They do not get any type of recess, they are being pushed from class to class carrying their backpacks stuffed to the brim, not being included with the rest of the school (5th & 6th grade). They have not been shown how to transition to 4th grade as 9 year olds. The environment is unfair, and a struggle for these kids. Not worth seeing your children sick to their stomach about going to school, and in tears getting out of the car in the morning. No Support and No Inclusion for anyone!! They staff and teachers are more concerned about the kids having on long pants and a belt, their shirts being tucked in and their hair not touching their ears rather than dealing with the transition these 9 year olds are facing this year. It doesn't help to reach out as you will NOT get someone to respond. I'm in tears daily over putting my family in this district. This school is about it's teachers only!!! They make sure the kids know what they like, but do not take the time to get to know their students. Coming into this district with a 4th grader will only give you high anxiety for your children. It's not worth seeing them so upset and struggling to try and please their teachers- while the teachers really don't care at all!!

I feel that the amount of homework given is excessive and outdated. There are more effective ways of learning rather than rote memory and “busy” work. The dress code is puritanical and, in some cases, impractical. However, my student’s experience with teachers and administrators has been generally positive and she enjoys the classroom environment.
