Overall our experience with the school has been amazing. I feel that the teachers and staff really do all work as a cohesive team and support the students in all they do. As part of the Dual Language Pilot Program, we have been exceptionally pleased with the level of education, in both languages.

My son has multiple emotional scars and the teachers and principal had it on record that he came from a broken home before entering school at Lawhon. The school had a good counselor and teacher the first year, then the administration and teachers had changed. The person who decided the schedule put my son in with an inexperienced teacher who was not familiar with neither ODD, ADHD, nor PTSD. The teacher did not protect my child from bullying because the child who was bullying my son was one of the "cute kids." The principal then went on to discipline my son and not the other child who would cut in lines, make fun of my child's looks and when he had any adverse reactions. I had approached the staff with suggestions to have him put in a smaller class and just handed his work, but those were shut down. My son, whose IQ is high was left in the class with the bully and then thrown out of school because he started fighting back and being mean to the bully after five months of the principal and teacher's neglect of the situation. There is no help for children with needs at this school. If you child needs attention take them to another school !

I've had 4kids in this school. A total of 9 years. The first few years were great. My boys dyslexia needs were addressed and when my daughter started Kinder, I guess is when things got harder. She has ODD and tends to make situations"difficult". Her teacher was amazing but left the school for personal reasons. My daughter was placed with a new teacher whom was rude and non nurturing. My daughter hated school til 2nd grade. Thank you Mrs. Ewing for your smiles and hugs and continued compassion for my daughter til the school kicked us out. My son who has anger 'episodes' started Kinder and his whole year was rough. 5 yr old in & out of neurologist testing & mentally straining therapy is rough. His teacher gave it her best and that's all we ask. He was still held back and the following year after 4 medication changes, finally he was on track. His teacher reported that he had great days and only 1 bad day but the disciplinary officer claimed the opposite on those same days. She was short tempered (unlike prior year) & basically gave up on our son. Suddenly we were called and told our kids were being kicked out of the district. No explanation or anything. The following day we visited the school to meet w the principal and staff who called us. Apparently a staff member saw something on our Facebook that they believed to be against TEC and without further thought we were kicked and called names and forced to move out of the zone immediately so that our kids could attend school and not fall behind academically. Not once did they express concern or compassion for our sitiatiom or our KIDS. They are heartless and all they want is money w their constant fund raisers and sells. To ice the cake, they finally sent home 5 shirts we ordered a month ago and now they're useless to us and they haven't refunded our lunch account money and offer no help for us to get our $ back. My kids are better off in Pasadena Schools where staff stay out of our personal lives and our kids are much happier.
