Plano West Senior High School

The school only has junior and senior students, about 1300 in total. The students only have one year to know their teachers and counselors before college application starts, so it could be tough for a student to find someone who knows them well for the college recommendation letter. In recent years teacher turnover rate is high, and some well-liked teachers by past students left for various reasons. Therefore your students may end up being assigned to new teachers who go through the leaning curve with your kids.

Both our daughters graduated from this school. I can't think of anything negative to say. Both shared that their freshman year of college (Auburn University-honors courses) seemed easy after their preparation at PWSHS.

Academics are rigorous, sports competitive, extracurriculars plenty and culture is inclusive. You can pick up statistics and see that they are the best performing high school in DFW area but only by sending our children there, we learned of all the good things that aren't tangible. I'm very happy with our decision to pick this school. I went on college tours with my daughters and every Texas college adcoms knew about school's high standards. I thought okay we are in Texas but surprisingly out of state elite colleges also knew that we are coming from an academic powerhouse. That was a very nice surprise.
