I am pleased with my child's education and available opportunities at BJH. She is very happy here compared to the previous middle school she attended. The teachers are very accessable and respond quickly to emails and inquiries with no complaint. The online system they have makes accessing her grades and attendance records a snap. Online registration made things very easy this year as well. The demographic is diverse there and I believe she is getting a good, real world yet safe and friendly experience.

I agree the with previous posting. Overall I am pleased with the education my children are getting but not the negative coaching and lack of knowledge of the game from the coaching staff. These coaches have an opportunity to display great leadership, knowledge and teamwork but instead they continue to bully and try their best to tear the students down. What a horrible display of leadership and model of behavior these children are seeing. Teachers and coaches teaming up to tear children down is not a win for our children only their influencers!!!

My experience at Briscoe Jr. High overall is an excellent one academically. I am able to voice any concerns and vice versa with all teachers through email (also in person/over phone) if needed. I would always get a quick response. The teachers are available for before school tutoring (which helps a lot). My son is attending the school for 7th and 8th grade and he love it. My only concern is with the head of boys major sports coach. He has been harassing my child since 7th grade, spewing comments like "He will never be good at football anyway." The school policy states that if your child is failing a class that he/she cannot participate in any major sports. My son was told he could not even try-out. His friends came to him and said they were failing but the coach let them try-out. Although my son was hurt, he is handling his dealings well with the coach to this day. It frustrates me as a parent to have to tell my child at this age he have to be the bigger man, ignore the coach use of profanity and just do as you're told. It saddens me that teachers can also play a role in how students come to feel about themselves. Overall an excellent school.
