My son was sent to this school for his summer school. He was so excited to go to summer school. After, the first day, I ask him how his day went. He told me that "the principal said I am too expensive to be in summer school". I asked him why would the principal say that. His response was "I don't know, may be because I am the only student with a brown face in my class". There was a mix up in his summer school registration and he had to be with the principal for a while that first day, until things were sorted out. To say I was shocked was an understatement. Why a principal would make such statement to a child (he's PreK) baffles me. I followed up with that principal, she apologized and said she couldn't remember saying something like that to him. But he had a very nice experience with his teacher. When I asked about his teacher, he responded "My teacher is really nice and is not like my principal". He didn't want to go to the school the next day until I assured him that he wouldn't be with the principal again. Thankfully, he's not a regular student in that school and I can't wait for him to finish the summer school and leave the school

School needs remodeling. Good teachers. School needs funds to help improve the school. Not the best school but not the worst.

My daughter was very excited to start school, she asked to start over and over. We sent her to pre-k at smith, and after her first day she said she did not want to go back. I had to fight her to get ready. my daughter is white, and very much the minority at Smith, I saw maybe 4 or 5 other white kids in the whole school while having lunch with her a hew times. She also said one of the teachers would yell alot, and I saw it in person, yelling in spanish to a bunch of the little kids. I have since moved schools, and she LOVES her new school, new teacher, it is a night and day difference between the schools, and I feel for any other kid suffering the same thing my daughter went through
