We have been at Callison for 6 years. The atmosphere and administration has greatly improved over that time. Some of the negative reviews were from a few years ago when the school lacked good leadership. Currently the school is a wonderful place where my kids feel welcome, happy, and supported. (2019)

Great! We haven’t been here long, but we have loved the teachers and staff.

I recently spent the day assisting my daughter's 1st grade class as part of Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students). I walked in with expectations formed from my distant memory of my elementary school experience and emotionally charged conversations with other parents about charter schools v. public schools. It turns out that my daughter is getting a fine education in a great, nurturing environment. Mrs. Harris (teacher) was incredibly patient and set a high bar for the students to strive for. One of my favorite highlights was the "reading buddy" hour. A class of older kids come to the classroom and pair up with their designated 1st grader. The older child helps the 1st grader with their reading. My daughter really enjoys this, and I imagine that it is incredibly empowering for the older children. Overall, I did not feel that there was a one size fits all approach and there were many aspects that were customized to the needs of the children. When the teacher noticed that the kids were lacking focus, they would have a dance break to reinvigorate and refocus. There were also “wiggle” chairs for kids that need to move. There is also plenty of technology incorporated into the class room. I am very happy that my daughter is as Callison and I highly recommend for parents to volunteer at the school and experience this for themselves.
