I am a recent graduate of RHS. Though sometimes things were really bad (my first year there were plenty of issues) the school and the district did a lot to clean up the place. The real problem isn't the school itself, but rather the students. The majority of the students are quite disrepectful to each other and to the teachers. The people in charge don't do much about it. (Teachers weren't allowed to press charges when a girl pulled a knife on them) but the teachers really are caring and want to help their students. Most the teachers there do not want to leave because they don't want to give up on their students. Everyone KNOWS Roosevelt has a bad rep, but not many know how good it really can be. The good things that the school have accomplished is often overlooked. JROTC continuously gets awards as well as multiple sweepstakes achievements in the fine arts. The sports isn't always winning inside of district, because it is a competitive district, but it's not their fault. The real issue with this school is the lack of support, funding, and self-confidence.

My Son has great grades i cant complain about that but the Athletic program sucks the the coaches run the same plays every week they dont rotate players into the game half of the guys on the sideline are better than the starters but somehow Coach Carroll seems to keep his son in the game though my son will not be attending or playing football for this school next year

My child is getting ready to Graduate RHS and quite honestly I feel she was given a great education. She's been accepted into Texas A&M, UTSA, Texas State, etc etc. She ran track, played a couple of lead rolls in theater, and came out with a 4.2 GPA Whats not to like? Bullying ?? Drugs ?? Fights ?? Please, it's high school. I live North Central, I listen to my lawyers buddies tell me about what those children of theirs are doing. It's called "growing up" . Besides, if the reality is that kids on the wrong side of track are tougher, when do you want your kids to learn how to deal with that. Never? Cause our children will eventually will be dealing with these type people (if that's what you call them). Roosevelt is an amazing school with amazing teachers. Go Rough Riders !!

To the former student who asserts that Roosevelt has a 76% COLLEGE dropout rate: Where are you getting your statistics from? I haven't been able to find out any info on Roosevelt alumni college dropout rates. Are you referring instead to the percentage of Roosevelt students who drop out of Roosevelt? According to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) the overall percentage of kids who dropped out of Roosevelt was approximately 11.5% as of 2011 (the last year for which stats are available). They offer no stats on DATA or ETA because their numbers are folded in with Roosevelt's numbers. As someone who is considering sending two of my kids to either DATA or ETA I would love to know where you are getting your information from so that I can do my own follow up research.
