The school is a good school. Academics were good and the teachers we had were good teachers and very kind. The Specials staff were excellent, too. I always felt my child was safe and cared for there. However, the principal allows certain parents and PTA members to essentially run the school, and it’s sad. I always felt communication was lacking and sub-par from the administration and could be better and more effective. In our last year there, the school went through 2-3 front office secretaries and rumor has it, it was due to the principal’s demeanor.

My family has had 2 generation of students (children and now grandchildren) attend Florence Elementary and we couldn't be more pleased! The faculty and staff care about your child as if they are their own! They are teaching them not only curriculum, art, music and PE but also they are learning life-long character skills that they can take with them long after they leave Florence. Love this school!

Florence is amazing! My two kids have gone there since kindergarten and this will be my son's last year. The teachers are amazing and truly care about the students. Everyone is encouraged to do their best and to be their best. Students with learning disabilities or just needing more help have plenty of opportunities for help. I can't say enough good things about the staff, parents, and great kids. We will be so sad to leave next year!

This school appears to have all the right ingredients for a great school but falls seriously short! They depend on their "Southlake" address to carry their name of a great school but anyone with background in education can recognize the need for major improvements. I absolutely agree with other reviews about the students poor behavior being minimized! My daughter comes home everyday asking me the definition of words that she leaned at school that are beyond inappropriate. The curriculum doesn't get much better. The rigor here is seriously lacking and there should be great concern for the students ability to perform in the future.
