We have had several kids attend Lamar and they have all had exceptional teachers each year, made solid friendships and have all done well academically moving forward.

My children adore their teachers and love going to school each morning. Lamar creates a fun and supportive environment to foster early learning.

Too many benchmark tests and emphasis on testing overall. Students are very aware of test scores and are asked to set goals for doing better each year. This is a very wealthy area and teachers are under pressure to have students achieve high scores to uphold property values. My children and their friends were afraid of many of the specials teachers and I can attest to hearing them rant and yell while I was on campus as a volunteer. On a whole it was a disappointing experience. If you are moving from another state be aware of what the STAAR testing is, current legislation to modify them and how your possible school approaches taking them. I found parents did not know much about them or if they did and had objections did not speak up.

My child attended kindergarten at Lamar. She had a wonderful year, learned a great deal and is reading beyond her expected level. The teacher kept in contact with us and updated on behavior and progress. They had many activities for parents to participate in. I noticed many parents participating in the school events. Overall, we had a great experience and hope the next few years go just as well.
