There are many excellent involved teachers at Del Valle. The class options are great a and the support the students receive is amazing.

I'm a student at DVHS. I'm a senior this year and I'd just like to say that honestly, this school isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Yeah, the administration sucks, and the food sucks. But overall, majority of the teachers are FANTASTIC and have huge influences on students' lives. Sure, fights RARELY break out and people RARELY smoke on campus, but can you name a campus where that doesn't happen? Teenagers will be teenagers. They'll be rebellious if they want, not all kids are good. And quite frankly that's not the school's fault, that is solely the parents way of parenting their kids. Bullying is really non-existant at this school as well. People really aren't even mean, everyone's just loud. And when there's a new kid, the word usually quickly goes around and people are anxious to make friends with them. Del Valle is a fine school.

The AP classes here are lacking due tot he fact that most of the kids in the classes don't belong in them. Both of my sons are bored in the classes and teach themselves from the books most of the time. They have both easily passes the AP tests to receive college credit but only 5% of the other student pass them. The school is about 85% Hispanic, which we are not,and there are racial issues. There is also a huge lack of parenting in this district. My 3 kids have been in each level of school. Every school has major discipline issues, due to lack of parenting out of school. There are many kids doing drugs and having sex on campus. The dress code at the high school is rarely enforced;even the teachers dress poorly. The school lacks enormously in the communication department. I don't think the schools and the administration office works together on anything. Everybody has different information when you call or receive letters. My kids have to bring their own lunch because the food is so horrible. The brought home sandwiches that the meat was green! Yuck! My husband taught here 6 years...don't make that mistake. There is no backing by the school for teachers and no raises in 5 years.
