Avoid at all costs. Cronyism and nepotism are rampant in this district, and there is far too much emphasis placed on a failing sports program and little to none on education. Taxpayer money is continously spent on frivolous things and creating fake jobs for friends and family of the administration and the school board instead of sorely needed repairs to unsafe and hazardous buildings. If your thinking of moving here just do yourself a favor and don't. It's only a matter of time before the state comes in and shuts the place down and hands it over to a nearby town.

I always thought that high school years were supposed to be the best years of my life. Sadly for me I attended Venus High school and got the exact opposite. Half of the coaches are teachers, their misbehaved athletes are given special treatment compared to other students. A lot of students got away with things simply because they were favored students. In such a small school, being the victim of bullying was very common. There were few teachers where I felt like I actually had to try to learn something. Most teachers had such low expectations and I was surprised that failing was even possible. Many teachers and staff knew the problems that were occurring in the school and looked the other way. The clubs at the school were very selective and did not include all students that wanted to be a part of them. Many teachers were fired, some quit or retired out of nowhere, and we were left with whatever teacher or substitute that they could get their hands on. The only reason I'm giving this a one star, other than the fact that it's the lowest I can go, is that the lunch ladies were very kind and some teachers and staff actually did care for the well being of the students.

I moved my child from a nearby large public school to Venus and I absolutely don't regret my decision. My older children graduated from the larger district so I have personal knowledge of both school environments. Venus is by far the superior school district. I always know what is going on with my child's education. If I have a question it doesn't take 5 days for somebody to call back like in the big district. The academics are very comparable to the larger school district so I know my child is getting a good education and will be college ready. No school district is perfect but I think Venus ISD has worked very hard to improve in all areas and are making great strides to make it a good choice for parents. The only downfall is the lack of class choices for high school but that's only because they are a small district. The benefits of the smaller district far outweigh this one downfall. I have no regrets moving my child to Venus ISD.
