This is a great school, we were apprehensive when we moved to such a rural area and even tried the private schools first. Our children have thrived here and I am amazed at the range of extra activities they offer. Students can participate in piano lab, chorus, Odyssey of the Mind and Lego Robotics, the Great Computer Challenge, Drama Club and Kiwanis Kids, all in Elementary school! The teachers are dedicated and the students are polite and well-behaved. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful school in our community.

School is great, one particular member of the office staff is horrible. Clearly us parents are an interruption to her day. I have had 3 kids go through MES and I am so glad that this is our last year dealing with her. Not to mention the new "no transportation changes after 12 noon." Well stuff happens and if I call to say there is an emergency and I need to make a change than so be it. I am still the parent.

This school, and its sister middle school, have pulled themselves up academically in recent years. Unfortunately, however, the SOL scores for the Middlesex high school remain dismally low. Despite the improvement for the elementary school, I took my daughter out because she was not sufficiently challenged (and was bored). I recently found out the school doesn't even conduct spelling bees, which I cannot understand - what message does that give to kids about the importance of mastering the English language? I know that MIddlesex is a relatively poor county, but how much can it cost to open up the cafeteria one night for an hour or two? One last note: the county really should cough up a little money to train the ladies in the front office how to act (even if they don't feel like it) like normal, friendly human beings.

The office staff is awful! As it has been stated a few times here. I don't know why these ladies are still allowed to work there. This year( my daughter's last year thankfully) they have "lost" my daughter 4 times and almost a fifth. It does not matter if you send in a note or call before noon ( their new policy) they do NOT communicate with the teachers. I have had to chase down the bus when the school has been told not to put her in it. I have been very happy with MOST of my daughter's teachers and she has excelled academically.
