Overall fantastic. We’ve been very pleased. Only small complaint is the rigidity of their discipline procedures. Not upset about the fact that my child has been disciplined, just seems like a couple of times the disciplinary measures have exceeded the level of the infraction. I can understand though, that it’s meant to be fair. But by and large, this school has been outstanding. Great spirit, fun activities and special nights throughout the year, excellent teachers, involved PTA. And Mr. Grigg often dresses up as Jack Jouett and will ride a horse in the parking lot on Jouett’s birthday (look Jouett up-he’s a cool guy). Very, very happy to be here.

We visited JES during the summer to begin the registration process for our kindergartener and immediately were welcomed by a caring and friendly staff. Mr. Grigg - principal, took time out of his day to meet with our child and from that moment on encouraged positive self esteem not just for us but for every individual in the school. His motto is "Be Legendary". JES offers many different programs to fit every child's needs. Our child's needs were immediately noticed and decided he needed to be placed in the gifted program. He was challenged in a very positive and effective way. Every day he got off the bus he expressed his love for school. He was awarded for his outstanding achievement, an award that was given to a student once a month who showed "Lengendary" pride. Unfortunately we have to relocate and were not able to attend JES. I highly recommend this school.

We first moved to Louisa almost 7 years ago. We were told by several of our neighbors how the staff at JES impacted their lives and how unique and different they were from the schools in other districts. We wrestled with the decision between homeschooling, private and public. After a lot of prayer and council we decided what was best for our family was public. I will never forget randomly deciding to stop by the school on a July afternoon to speak with the Principles and staff regarding my fears and specific challenges with having two sons with Autism spectrum. The staff immediately expressed compassionate understanding, offered professional solutions and strategies for each of my children. During a IEP over my oldest son with Autism, the staff looked at my soon to be 3 year old and offerred to help him in their Pre-K program. The teachers here are real, they are experts and phenomenal. They are not a school that limits helping just the child succeed, they help the whole family and the community here in Louisa. I am extremely proud to have my children here and I am personally blessed by everyone who works and volunteers here!

I have seen a decline in respect for students and parents. There has been a drop in communication. The upper grade teachers spend more time gossiping amonst themselves than paying attention to the welfare of the students. Problems are swept under the rug by the Jouett administration. If your child is not perfect in appearance or intellect then they are targeted as conversation material and bullying by other students which administration has been unable to curtail. The administration makes excuses and does not fix problems within the school.
