Parker High School

As a student with many privileged identities and enough money and family support to succeed, I had a good experience at Parker. I graduated valedictorian and had no trouble making it into UW-Madison. However, looking back, I realize how my experience was very different from my peers. I don't think that, in general, Parker does a very good job of bringing up students from the middle up to high performance, or students with low performance up to passing. I think that the climate at this school as far as race, gender, sexuality, and income differences between students is very tough to navigate. Students often face bigotry and bullying from their peers and I do not think that Parker does enough to actively address issues of inclusion and equity. As a teacher, I would not accept a job at Parker without a strong commitment to improvement of the school's culture and climate toward students who did not have the same privileged experience as me.

This school is terrible. They don't try and help you with your grades and try to let you fail. The math teachers especially, they don't teach you and they have you sit in class and fill in notes with little to no examples. The guidance counselors and many other teachers are really nice and helpful and tries to help you with your grades. This is a cognitively impaired math department in this school with teachers that don't know how to teach. DON'T COME TO THIS SCHOOL, you will not enjoy it.
