Cherokee Heights Middle School

My daughter just began sixth grade at Cherokee, but has transitioned in without issues. Her teachers are caring and challenging and she loves going to school. The school building could use some improvements, but that doesn't seem to bother my daughter. There is a lot of diversity, which I think will help her in life.

Cherokee Heights Middle School is a great school if you don't want your child to receive an education. They say they have zero tollerance for bullying and that is not true. My daughter was bullied for most of the year and each time I spoke to someone (from teachers up to the assistant principle), they assured me it was being dealt with. I guess by not dealing with it is how they deal with it. Now it is a new year and she has a class, chior, where the teacher teaching it has no qualification to teach chior. The kids all talk throughout the class and they never sing. I have tried to remove her from the class and am told she has to stay in the class because all study halls are filled (I wonder why that is). I sorry, your school scores 3 out of 10 because education is not the priority. Go there for a visit and you can see for yourself.

My daughter loves this school, has had fantastic teachers, good friends, and has done well academically. They do a good job of introducing the new 6th graders too. It may not be for everyone - there are a lot of kids with problems in the classrooms. But if your kid can deal with that, there is a lot to like here.
