EXCELLENT! My child is having an amazing career at East. The compassion of the student body, staff, teachers, and leadership makes this school the best in Madison area. It is the most diverse, and its diversity is celebrated across the school. If moving to the area, check out East. Don't let the numbers dissuade you. Their numbers are improving steadily every year. Eastside Eastside!
East is an amazing school. The student body is diverse and celebrates this across the school. The staff are dedicated and very student-oriented. The graduation rate has increased steadily for the last 8 or 10 years, and the graduation rate for African American students has increased from 45% to 82% last year --- that shows that East is really doing something right. It's a unique school.
Top notch. The ratings on here must be old as I see all the work the kids and teachers do to lift up all students. They celebrate the kids who have been accepted to college, diversity, people with disabilities. They have a lot of programs in place so to prepare for students to be ready for college, financial health along with the school having a food pantry for families that need it and also clothes so no child or family is punished for what they don't have. My daughter was the first student to have a service dog and the school made sure there was a plan in place for her dog so that my daughter and my daughter's service animal needs were taken care of. We came from a small town in Missouri where 7th-12th grade had about 170 students. East has over 1800 students and the faculty at East High know the kids as much or better than our towns school. I am constantly surprised and impressed with this school.
Everytime I contact the school by phone or enter the building everyone welcomes me, I feel like a guest! The prinicipal is always visually available to greet parents during parent-teacher conference and fully participates in all school processes. Teachers are committed to an inclusionary environment where all students are accepted and expected to learn.
