TERRIBLE. I can’t beleieve how much people said this school was wonderful for all their kids, sadly my experience can not relate at all.

Lowell Elementary is a school that I would not have dreamed of giving "5 stars" to before the current principal came to her position. Lowell benefits from dedicated, unflinching, unafraid of change staff, teachers, and principal. Unlike a previous poster, I do not find the academics lackluster . . . unless one holds standardized test scores in high esteem. Let's be clear, Lowell School is diverse in more than one sense of the word - socio-economically, racial/ethnically, geographically (in terms of birth countries of students and parent), and liguistically (i.e., language spoken in the home). And yet, the community of students, parents, and teachers come together in a supportive way that keeps the best interests of students in the forefront. After feeling chagrined that my daughter didn't get into the local dual immersion charter school, we are not even applying for this year b/c I cannot imagine a better environment for my daughter to learn than Lowell School.

This is a terrific school in a fantastic community. The school is very diverse and terrifically integrated. The kids seem to not only get along with one another but really encourage and respect one another. These are often things missing from larger public schools. The principal has done a terrific job fostering a "community of friends". The academics are somewhat lack luster, but I think the teachers do a great job challenging the students with the resources and funding they are given. Overall very happy with our experience!
