My daughter has attended Stoner Prairie all of her 6 years since beginning kindergarten. She has always enjoyed and made great connections with her teachers, and she has thrived academically, being given appropriate challenges each year. She has also had opportunities to grow her leadership skills, which is important as well. Stoner Prairie has a wonderful sense of community and wraps its arms around a very diverse student population, ethnically and economically. Parent involvement is encouraged; we've always felt welcome to participate in our daughter's learning activities. We feel fortunate that our daughter went to school here!

Stoner Prairie is an amazing school with highly trained teachers and dedicated, involved parents! They score highly on standardized tests compared to state, federal and district norms. The student population is diverse and there are many opportunities for both inside and outside the school day for students to explore their individual interests. Their mission is "To challenge our students to reach their academic potential, to love and respect them for who they are and to teach them the absolute joy of learning."

My son went to SP in 2008 & felt like he was a burden to the teacher/school. He regressed from chapter books to starter books, multip & division to counting blocks. He was sad. I realized I needed to advocate for him. The LRC gave him a math folder which was really well done, but it was not usually given to him. The teacher was wonderful & I really liked her, but she was struggling w/her load & did not feel she had the time for Braden's math. I talked to the Principal & was SHOCKED. He was extremely negative, even hostile at times & would not help, even when testing showed my son was very high. He refused to provide the math folder & said my son may have "gaps" & would not give him advanced math next year either. The P did a deposition against me for my ex, stating I was over the top in advocating, implying I had mental health issues. We transferred schools. The new P saw his testing & said I was appropriately advocating & worked to place my son. My son STARTED 3 levels above grade in math that year alone, finishing 4 above. He soared in reading & spelling. The deposition was proven wrong. My son scored #1 in Leopold & #3 in Dane County in math. He now feels it is okay to be smart.

Excellent teachers, and smaller integrated program (PALS) that promotes social and community development across the grades. Highly trained and supportive staff along with small class size makes this one of the best (if not the best!) elementary schools in Dane County.
