I was born and raised here in Las Vegas, so I am the first to admit that I might be a little bit biased, but I love it here and highly recommend it as a retirement destination. People are often surprised by the variety of outdoor options. Nearby Mount Charleston is about 25-30 degrees cooler than our valley, which means it's the perfect place to hike or bike in the Summer and a great place to visit for snow in the winter. The beautiful scenery and trees have a way of making you forget that you are in Southern Nevada. There is a whole world beyond the strip to explore, whether you enjoy great cuisine, scenic hikes, or live music, we have it all here! Shops, restaurants, medical, and grocery stores are never more than 5-10 minutes away. Not having a state income tax, having reasonable real estate taxes, and no taxation of pension income is just the cherry on top. For those interested in buying a home in the area I recommend visiting and exploring the homes, amenities, and surrounding area in multiple communities that might be a good fit for you is key. It is hard to know what you will actually like until you see it in person. As a Vegas native, I am always eager to try new restaurants, I love food! We have some of the best chefs and restaurants in the world here (and most of those restaurants are not even on the Strip), so if you crave a certain cuisine and need a suggestion, I would be more than happy to share some great places with you.
