About Allandale

The area known as Allandale and Rosedale is a large, primarily residential, neighborhood that is also home to local businesses and excellent schools. Allendale and Rosedale may be used interchangeably, but locally the area South of 49th St. is referred to as Rosedale, while North of 49th is Allendale. Since Allandale and Rosedale are known for its quiet atmosphere, the noise created by the overpasses and train tracks along Mopac is a trade-off that can make living in this highly desireable area affordable.

This North Central Austin neighborhood is not particularly known for its culinary scene, but there are several American, Mexican, and Asian-style restaurants available for hungry residents and visitors. Several bakeries in this area also serve their freshly made goods directly to the public. Coffee and tea houses are also a staple of this area, and you can find everything from specialty espresso to discount drinks for commuters who need a quick breakfast and coffee.

Young couples, families, and empty-nesters occupy a great deal of Allandale. The farther south you venture, the more families you are likely to find. The area's many local coffee shops and bakeries are a great way to start the day, and some young people and students stay late into the night.
