I have had four children attend Tanque Verde Elementary School. It has been a wonderful experience for each of them. I highly recommend this schoolAnd this community.

We are a multi-racial open enrollment family. Sadly my 4th grader has experienced racial injustices from her peers. The school is mostly rich white kids. They claim to be a Kind School but it’s FAR from it. There seem to be minimal consequences for bullying/mean kids. Staff members kids and the PTG kids are the only kids Whose photos get in the yearbook. Those kids can do whatever they want at the school. The school does provide a great education and that is the only reason my daughter still attends. Parents say mean things about the open enrollment kids and the kids that are bussed from a group home. The PTG also backstabbed the previous principal and basically forced her to retire. The new principal seems nice but there hasn’t been any significant changes other then more fundraising. Not sure what the point of kicking out the old principal was if no changes would be made. TVES NEEDS TO DO BETTER!

This school isn't even inclusive to new teachers. The teachers are the same as the kids as far as cliques. The principal does nothing. The teachers hang out and complain about the kids in their spare time. Worst than a TUSD school!

WONDERFUL if you don't have a SPED kid. Okay if you have a SPED kid and don't ask for much. Our child goes there. But our friends with a SPED kid had to leave. Could not get appropriate services and were told their kid didn't need help but school in Phoenix was glad to help them. People shouldn't have to move because their kid is SPED. Felt bad for the parents and the kid. My kid isn't SPED and is doing well. But I'm not very well liked because the principal (and speech person) know I know what they did to this family. Yes, you can send your kid without junk food. However, most teachers don't seem to care that there's a river of sugar running through most classrooms. Birthdays, "special occasions" and "contests" (like bringing in the most box tops, copy paper for the office, etc.) can EASILY result in your child being offered upwards of 500 pure junk calories each and every single week.
