Barrett Hills

I can't say enough good things about our neighborhood. Barrett Hills is a quiet neighborhood filled with kind, friendly couples and families. It is a bit off the beaten path, but also close enough to be convenient to many amenities. The homes are the standard, 1960s-style single levels, many with distinctive mid-century modern architecture and charm. The yards are spacious, great for gardening and playing with dogs. Speaking of dogs, this neighborhood is full of well-behaved dogs and folks that love them. Most hours of the day you'll see someone out walking their dogs (on-leash) and enjoying the neighborhood park. When we were looking to buy, we wanted a progressive neighborhood like Elmhurst, Land Park, or Woodlake. At our salaries, however, we were priced out. We lucked into Barrett Hills after falling in love with a beautiful Eichler-like property. Only after we moved did we learn that we were a perfect fit for this community. Most of our neighbors are just like us: well-educated individuals that work in public service: nurses, teachers, social workers, librarians, scientists, attorneys, etc. I hope the trend continues and we get more amazing neighbors with whom to cultivate community.
