Around Beverly Woods

Beverly Woods maintains the residential feel you can find in the rest of Morgan Park. The residents take pride in their homes, often taking exterior maintenance to a new level. Single-family homes abound in the neighborhood — often as one- or two-story brick houses with plenty of lawn space — though some condos can also be found along the busier borders of the area.

Beverly Woods offers a range of cuisines along major streets like Western Avenue. It may be a residential neighborhood but you’ll still have no trouble finding the right type of food to satisfy your craving. Dine in at Global Kitchen to sample flavors of the world, or warm yourself up with bacon, eggs, and flapjacks at Lume’s Pancake House.

With plentiful single-family homes, you’ll see a lot of folks working on their yards or playing ball outside. Residents can be frequently seen walking around the neighborhood, often taking trips to the nearby playground and pool at Kennedy Park. You’ll also see a strip of local businesses along Western Avenue.

As a quiet and tranquil neighborhood on the edge of the city, it’s no surprise the area isn’t buzzing with clubs or cocktail lounges. But bars and Irish pubs serve as watering holes for the community, and artistic spaces like Creative Sippin or the Beverly Arts Center offer imaginative theater, music, and film for engaging Friday evenings.

Kick off your Sunday in Beverly Woods with a hearty breakfast at a local diner followed by a walk to Kennedy Park. For recreational activities, visit the Morgan Park Sports Center to do anything from ice hockey to yoga. And for music lovers, Beverly Records offers crates of vinyl records to dig through. Even as a small neighborhood, Beverly Woods has something for anyone.

Hidden Treasure

Jake H
As a former resident of Beverly Woods, Rogers Park, and Lincoln Park resident, I must say that Beverly Woods is the best unknown area in Chicago. If you value cultural diversity, safety, and a somewhat suburban vibe, this is the place for you. Most of Beverly is a great place to live, but I consider this small section the perfect place to raise a family. I now live in San Francisco, but if I ever moved back this would once again be home.
