In the Pixar movie Up, a quaint Victorian house is sandwiched in the center of a Seattle high-rise. Over in Chicago's River North, a house that has also resisted the development trends of its block recently went up for sale and will avoid demolition, reports DNAInfo.

Jim Passios and a business partner bought the 128-year-old Italianate at 154 W. Superior St. for $900,000 in August, and he says he is planning to rehab—not raze—the property. The office will house the two businesses the pair operates, Hop Head Farms and and Ceres Partners. They bought the house after a developer scuttled plans to build a tower at the site.

The 1,862-square-foot house stands in stark contrast from the condo towers on the street; the former owner refused to sell even amid a construction boom.
