Cheers to the legalization of marijuana in Nevada. Yes, it’s been a little while since this was done, but it’s still just as exciting for medical marijuana patients and recreational users. Say what you want about its legalization, but the industry is enhancing the city. One reason is that cannabis sales are helping the economy.

Las Vegas Reef estimates that recreational marijuana could generate over a billion dollars in annual economic activity by 2024. The industry is also creating more jobs and the tax revenue is benefiting local schools as well.

Even though there are areas all over the city where folks have access to different smoke shops,  dispensaries, and activities related to the herb, some neighborhoods are a little more cannabis-friendly than others. So to help you gear up for 4/20, here is a neighborhood guide to the three most weed-friendly neighborhoods in the Las Vegas area.

Downtown

The NUWU Cannabis Marketplace

Downtown is, hands down, the best place to be for all-things cannabis. Most of the dispensaries in the city are either here or nearby, and Downtown has a lot of marijuana-friendly businesses in the vicinity. The area is already getting called a “green-light district.” Vegas Seven says that “Downtown Las Vegas will soon be a destination for cannabis consumers from around the world.”

“Parts of Downtown Las Vegas originated as a red-light district of sorts,” says Tarek Tabsh, co-founder of Downtown dispensary New Amsterdam Naturals. “To this day, Downtown carries this certain character that harkens back to a ‘real Las Vegas,’ a place that’s distinct from the Strip.”

Downtown’s NUWU Cannabis Marketplace is the largest marijuana store in the world. Located on Native American tribal lands, this 16,000-square-foot dispensary offers a 24-hour drive-thru, so guests can roll through to resupply whenever they’d like. NUWU is also a trendsetter, as it was just announced they would be a sponsor of the Las Vegas Lights FC. This would be the first time a professional sports team in the U.S. has partnered with a marijuana dispensary. That’s Vegas for you.

Downtown will also be home to a brand-new cannabis museum, opening in July. Located in the Neonopolis shopping district, Cannabition will include a 360-degree theater and the world's largest glass bong. Tickets for Cannabition will start at, of course, $4.20.

Spring Valley

There are quite a few dispensaries in Spring Valley, including Blum, Medizin, and Essence.

If you are in the neighborhood and you’re looking for a way to celebrate 4/20, check out Cannafest, hosted by Exhale Nevada. It will be a celebration of all things marijuana and will include contests, musical performances, food trucks, various vendors in the cannabis industry, and even a screening of Super Troopers 2. You’ll find this event across from Palms Place.

Paradise

Paradise is another great neighborhood for weed lovers as they have quite a few dispensaries for visitors to choose from. One is The Grove, located near McCarran Airport. On 4/20, The Grove will be celebrating their two-year anniversary with a party that includes a DJ, food trucks, raffles, and specials.

Jardin Cannabis and Pisos Dispensary are two other great dispensary options in the neighborhood.

On 4/20, head to the Thomas and Mack Center for the 420 Roll it Up concert featuring Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. Tickets start at around $50.

No matter which neighborhood you are in, there are a few businesses hitting Vegas in 2018 that will appeal to fans of Mary Jane. One is Loopr, a mobile cannabis ultra lounge. You’ll be able to request the bus via an app, hop aboard, smoke up, hang out, and take a tour the city. It’s “Cannabis Uber,” basically.

Also launching this year is the 420 Club. This private club will offer a variety of monthly memberships (ranging from $10 to $100 a month) that allow members to use cannabis in a private club setting. Shuttle services, use of paraphernalia, and other amenities will also be provided to members.
