Downtown Evanston could be getting a new, 395-foot building with apartments, hotel rooms, and a restaurant, according to Curbed Chicago. The 37-story, mixed-use development, proposed by Farpoint Development, would be located on the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue.

The proposal includes 153 apartments, 153 hotel rooms, and 258 parking spaces. The development would also bring back the Northlight Theater after a 20-year absence from Evanston. The new building, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, includes space for a stage with 350 seats and a second performance space with 100 seats, according to the report. The theater currently resides in Skokie.

The development has yet to receive approval from the Evanston’s City Council. At least two-thirds of the City Council will have to vote in favor in order for the development to move forward. If the new high-rise does get the green light, it will be the tallest building in Evanston.
