When you live in Las Vegas, the option to spend an evening on The Strip makes it easy to find things to do on date night. But what if you don’t want to leave the neighborhood or simply want something different to do that isn’t drinks or a show? Although it may come as a surprise to newcomers, there are more than a few options that aren’t on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Whether you want to stay in Henderson or Downtown, here are a range of date ideas that aren’t on the Strip.

Downtown

There’s no shortage of things to do in Downtown. In fact, you could spend more than a few date nights simply prowling for new options. If your date is during the day, the Vegas Valley Food Tour is a great way to experience the city without planning your own itinerary. The 2.5 hour Downtown food tour starts at the Mob Museum, ends at Container Park, and includes six tasting locations including Freedom Beat, Rachel’s Kitchen, and The Donut Bar.

For a late night date, skip the Fremont Street Experience and head to the Backyard at Gold Spike, where you and your date can play games and listen to live music. If you’re looking for a walkable date, the East end of Fremont Street offers several great options. Start at The Kitchen at Atomic for new American fare and spend time at 11th Street Records.

Paradise

Paradise may be in close proximity to the Strip, but its date options are surprisingly eclectic. The Pinball Hall of Fame is the name of a museum, but it really has the feel of an arcade. It houses the world’s largest pinball collection, and the games are available to play. Cash in your dollars for quarters and get some vending machine popcorn to play old-school Tron.

For an all-inclusive option, Topgolf is an ideal option for double-daters. Although golfing is the obvious choice there, take your date to the in-house concert venue or pool.

Summerlin

Summerlin has some of the best options in town when it comes to walkable shopping districts. From Downtown Summerlin to Tivoli Village, finding a nice place to take a walk, enjoy some sights, and find great food is easy. For a date that lets you enjoy alcohol without entering a bar, the wine walks that regularly take place in Downtown Summerlin feature numbered stations throughout the shopping center that have the feel of a scavenger hunt.

For a more outdoorsy date, Springs Preserve features a walkable botanical garden full of cacti and succulents that showcase the beauty of the desert. The nearby Red Rock Canyon also places the desert on display with nature walks during the day or at night when guides occasionally offer tours so walkers can see the stars without the light pollution.

Henderson

If you’re perfectly content to stay in Henderson on Friday night, The District is a great date option for its accessibility to stores, restaurants, and gaming. Plus, it’s a great place to take a walk in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer when live music happens every weekend. While you could have dinner at Bottiglia in Green Valley Ranch or get drinks at Whist and Stove, paint night at Pinot’s Palette lets you drink and paint all in the same place.

For a more low-key date, start the evening at the Harry Potter-themed Bad Owl Coffee and visit Movies and Candy near Anthem to rent a movie at a mom-and-pop movie store that not only has new releases, but also those nostalgic classics that you can’t find on Hulu, Netflix, or Redbox.
