You might not realize that Chandler, Arizona has a great nightlife scene. Whether you’re in a pub, dive, or upscale club, there are quite a few watering holes here that you’ll want to consider on your next night out on the town. Neighborhoods.com scoured the map, sampled the menus, and selected these five cocktail bars as the ones in town you won’t want to miss.

The Ostrich - Wingfoot Village

Located near the community of Wingfoot Village below the restaurant Crust, you’ll find the prohibition-themed bar The Ostrich. One of the best underground bars in the Phoenix Metro, The Ostrich is decorated with black and white mugshot photos and comfy vintage furniture. This historic building’s basement dates back to 1912 and once stored ostrich feathers for flapper dresses, hence the name.

The bar is known for a variety of classic drinks such as the Vesper Martini, Singapore Sling, and Mai Tai. We think the standout cocktail might be the AZ Sunshine Shandy, made with Arizona Distilling Co. moonshine, multiple syrups, freshly squeezed lime, angostura orange bitters, and topped with a sweet raspberry cider.

Sasha’s Kitchen and Cocktails - Downtown

Sasha’s Kitchen and Cocktails is located downtown and offers a contemporary twist on American cuisine. They serve memorable cocktails like the Cucumber Gimlet with cucumber vodka and mint or Dragon Punch with dark rum and mango puree.

But their standout has to be their “sophisticated take” on Mexico’s most beloved cocktail, The Paloma. Called the Silver Smash, silver tequila is “smashed” with lime, basil, grapefruit, and a splash of club soda. Not too over the top, the smooth drink has just the right amount of sweet.

The Brickyard Downtown - San Marcos Commons

Near the San Marcos Commons, you’ll find The Brickyard Downtown. This hip bar has low industrial ceilings, exposed brick, and a trendy atmosphere.

Their quirky cocktail menu offers classic drinks that change seasonally as well as custom recipes, broken down into categories represented by movie genres (action/adventure, horror, romance, etc.). We liked the look of Because I Was Inverted (inspired by Top Gun), which mixes Tanqueray 10, maraschino liqueur, lemon, egg white, and Violette to creat a “soft and elegant aviation variant.” For tiki cocktail lovers, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Ingredients packs in Jamaican Pot Still Rum Fire, Skipper’s Dark Rum, grapefruit liqueur, grapefruit shrub, honey, lemon, and soda, all topped with coconut foam.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill - Hearthstone

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, near the Hearthstone neighborhood, offers plenty of tasty seasonal cocktails like the Ginger Mango Basil Mojito and the Pomegranate Ginger Margarita.

However, their most beloved drink is a martini. The Double Black Diamond is made with fresh pineapple that’s been infused for 21 days with New Amsterdam Pineapple vodka and garnished with a sweet pineapple slice.

The Ivy - Germann Country Estates

This contemporary Mediterranean lounge, near the Germann Country Estates, offers up a swanky atmosphere and cool vibes. Plush seats on the patio of The Ivy invite you to sample their exotic menu.

While they offer a full drinks menu with cocktails, wine, and beer, we like The Spice Trade, a spicy alternative to some of the fruit-focused drinks. It blends Corazon Blanco tequila, Solerno, orange, lime, and cinnamon syrup, all of which is served on the rocks. That might not sound like it works, but trust us, it does.
