72 of America's 100 Most Expensive Zip Codes Are In California
Northern California. Southern California. Inland Empire. Wherever you go in California, you’re never too far from one of America’s most expensive zip codes.
PropertyShark recently looked through their 2016 home price and home sales data throughout the country and ranked each zip code accordingly. They put together a Top 100 list, and it’s probably not a big surprise that California and New York dominated it.
The most expensive zip in the state is the San Mateo County town Atherton. Despite the fact that the median sale price of $5,425,000 is down eight percent, this pricey enclave maximizes its numbers with a small population (8,000) that skews super-wealthy.
Southern California’s top zip is found north of Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. The median price clocks in at $3,395,000 there. Beverly Hills joins it in the top ten with a $3,128,250 median price. Other California hotspots rounding out the top ten include Palo Alto ($2,935,000), Los Altos ($2,831,250), and Portola Valley ($2,815,000).
