For those looking to buy a home in an up-and-coming area of Miami, a new ranking says Allapattah is the place to look. GOBankingRates ranks the neighborhood No. 16 out of 20 neighborhoods in its “Buy While You Can: 20 Hottest Neighborhoods in the U.S.” list.

With a median list price in July 2017 of $189,000, Allapattah was identified as a top area to buy a home before prices get too expensive. GOBankingRates looked at over 1,700 neighborhoods across the country, studying trends in home prices, home availability, and the length of time homes are on the market.

However, with buzz about the neighborhood and prices on the rise — the median list price was $154,500 in July 2016 — you may have to act soon to avoid price tags that are out of reach. The study found that homes currently sit on the market a median of 29 days.

Allapattah is an area made up of 45,000 people, produce suppliers, and warehouse districts. Located next to Wynwood, it is close to downtown main highways such as Interstate 95 and the Dolphin Expressway.

Earlier this year, the Allapattah Market, an open-air food and crafts marketplace run by the people from Wynwood’s Wood Tavern, opened its doors. It is one of several enterprises that is expected to draw outsiders to the neighborhood.
