Amazon has officially announced details about the company’s plans to move to Culver City in a recent press release. Amazon subdivisions Amazon Studios, IMDb, Amazon Video, and World Wide Advertising will now be relocating from their old Santa Monica headquarters to the renowned Culver City Studios.

The new headquarters, which is famed for housing some of Hollywood’s most iconic shows and movies, will undoubtedly bolster Amazon’s status as an original content creator. The streaming company, which currently employs more than 700 people, will lease over 280,000 square feet of the Culver Studios Mansion and Bungalows.

Per their press release, the company hopes that the relocation and expanded space will open up a variety of new employment opportunities in its creative, technical, publicity, and legal departments. In a statement from Albert Cheng, Amazon’s Studio Head, the company was in need of a bigger space in a setting that was supportive of TV and film content making.

There was speculation over which company would move to Culver Studios earlier this year. With so many tech hubs making their way into the city’s Westside, the neighborhoods of Playa Vista, Venice, and Marina del Rey have already been referred to as part of the area’s growing “Silicon Beach.”

According to Deadline, Amazon’s move to its new Los Angeles location will happen by the end of the year.
