National Life Group released their picks for the annual “Main Streets Across America” list, celebrating one street in each state that highlights a sense of community and creates an environment where people flock to live, work, and play.

The life insurance company based its selections on four main attributes that reflect “main street” values including a strong local business presence, community gathering spots and scenic vistas, celebrations of history and traditions, reflections of civic pride, and diverse social and cultural events and activities.

Earning a spot on the list this year for Arizona is Main Street in Old Town Scottsdale. An artsy community with a “laid-back feel,” the area has over 70 art galleries spotlighting local and national artists. Main Street in Scottsdale is in the heart of the art district, which features the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall, the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts, and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Scottsdale also offers unique opportunities to enjoy foodie fare like Arizona Food Tours, a series of guided visits to top-rated restaurants, wineries, and pubs.

Along with art, architecture, and culinary experiences, the surrounding area of Main Street also was applauded for offering a variety of parks and outdoor activities, as well as multiple scenic opportunities to hike more than 200 trails in 30,000 acres of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

Laura McMurchie, VP Communications for Experience Scottsdale, said she was proud of the accolade. “Like all the communities on the list, Scottsdale has some great stories to tell. We love sharing the uniqueness of the Scottsdale experience and all that it has to offer and Main Street is an important part of that.”
