Pilsen and Little Village are Chicago communities known for their authentic taquerias, so residents are understandably a little upset that a Taco Bell—known for its decidedly non-authentic Mexican fare—is headed to the area.

DNA Info reports that the City Council recently approved a zoning change that would make way for the fast-food chain to move in. Zoning records show the restaurant group Western Bell, Inc. plans to build a 2,053-square-foot, one-story restaurant with a drive-thru and 20 parking spaces at a vacant site at 2400-2412 S. Western Avenue, which borders Pilsen and Little Village.

Besides neighbors being upset about the onslaught of unholy hybrids like the “Quesalupa,” (one resident said the chain would be "slapping the local Hispanic flavor in the face," according to DNA Info) there’s concern about the rowdy late-night crowd, the drive-thru, and the drunk siren call of Dorito Locos tacos could bring, DNA Info says.

Although Ald. Danny Solis told DNA Info he is surprised a Taco Bell might want to move in, he’s willing to let the free market decide if the chain will be a success. After all, Pilsen is already home to fast-food chains McDonald’s, Subway, and Dunkin Donuts. It looks like it will be up to concerned residents to say no mas.
