The neighborhood is home to several beloved equestrian centers, including Skyline Ranch Equestrian Center, QUEST Equestrian, and City Stables. The family-friendly neighborhood of Castro Valley is already sought after for its location—it’s a quick drive to major Bay Area cities such as Berkeley and Fremont, but it’s separate enough to provide a secluded atmosphere. But horseback riders will have even more reason to love this area. With riding schools and equestrian centers such as Apple Creek Farms, Canyon Creek Ranch, and Graceland Equestrian Center, you’ll have no shortage of stables here to practice riding. Plus, the East Bay Regional Park District has many parks that offer equestrian-friendly trails.

This Contra Costa County neighborhood nestled in between Walnut Creek and Danville is well-known for its high median home price. According to the Mercury News, that price topped $2 million at the end of 2017. But with the neighborhood’s prime location, it’s no surprise housing is expensive. With the Las Trampas Ridge on one side and the Diablo Range on the other, this hilly area is an equestrian’s paradise. Horseback riders visit their horses and practice their sport at equestrian centers like All Seasons Horse Riding and Summit Ranch Equine Center.

Pacifica

If you love the ocean as much as you love horses, look no further than Pacifica. There are so many foothills and mountains near this area—many offering trails that have ocean views—that you’ll never run out of places to take your horse. Check out the Crystal Springs Reservoir for equestrian-friendly trails, or visit one of the area’s several private ranches. Mill Wood Ranch offers boarding, or you can visit Sun Valley Equestrian for summer camps and riding lessons.
