With real estate prices in San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area continuing to rise, residents who can’t afford it there are looking for other places to live. Apparently many are flocking to the seven-county Sacramento region, which includes Placer County

What makes Placer County, which stretches from Sacramento's suburbs to the Nevada border, an increasingly popular choice among relocators from San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Solano Counties? The Press Tribune reports that affordability is the main appeal. Both new homes and utilities are cheaper in the Sacramento region than in the Bay Area.

For the price of a San Jose apartment, homeowners can get a beautiful and spacious single-family home in Placer County. The abundance of outdoor recreation, wine-tasting, and shopping in a “small-town” atmosphere is another attraction for homebuyers.

Placer County is already taking steps to prepare for the expected growth to come. The county is planning to build the necessary infrastructure to accommodate a larger population.
