Broadway Lofts Bringing 163 Condos to LA's Fashion District
You know what's in fashion this year in Los Angeles? Condos. Then again, when aren't they?
Takacs Architecture announced last week that they, along with developer and landlord Barry Shy, had received approval on Broadway Lofts, a mixed-use project set for Los Angeles' Fashion District.
Located in the 1906-built Bumiller Building at 430 S Broadway, the renovated 15-story structure will contain 163 condos, 6,406 square-feet of commercial space, 202 vehicle parking spaces and 186 bicycle parking spaces. Building amenities will include a fitness center and rooftop deck.
Based on floor plans on the building website, units will range from studios to two-bedrooms and from 355 to 1,595 square feet. Residences will come equipped with a fully-realized kitchen and in-unit washers and dryers.
The project received the ability to upzone per a requested transfer of floor area rights, which will in turn provide funding for projects that will affect the surrounding Downtown LA neighborhood. The proposed Downtown streetcar is sure to be at the forefront of that list. The height also puts it in line with neighboring structures such as Ace Hotel and Western Costume Building, both of which are owned by Shy and are in the midst of residential conversion.
