Tucson is expanding its city borders and feeling the effects of a positive economy with rising sales in an aggressive housing market. According to Real Estate Daily News, builders have spent a total of $6.27 million in lot purchases in order to keep up with increasing buyer demand all throughout the Tucson Metro area. 

Meritage Homes of Arizona recently purchased 26.72 acres at the Silverhawke North subdivision in Oro Valley. Adjacent to Tangerine Meadows, the development is expected to be a gated community, according to their website. The area will feature single-story, energy-efficient homes on large lots with up to four bedrooms and 3,847 square feet. The number of lots purchased was undetermined, but the total costs were $3,489,575.

The Silverbell Residential subdivision in West Tucson saw 51 finished lots purchased by Pepper Viner for $1.58 million ($31,000 per lot). The builder has developed several communities around Tucson, including the anticipated Silverbell Commons, which will offer four floor plans between 1,241 and 16,21 square feet. Prices will start at the high $100,000s.

KB Homes acquired 10 additional lots to its already existing 35 lots at the La Cholla Station subdivision near the Casas Adobes West neighborhood for $675,000 ($67,500 per lot). The 8,000-square-foot lots plan to house a two-story small community with four floor plans ranging from 1,512 to 2,467 square feet. Prices have yet to be released and a model home is currently under construction.

Richmond American Homes bought six finished lots as part of a rolling option at Santa Cruz Meadows in Sahuarita for $300,000 ($50,000 per lot). The current development offers four floor plans between 2,110 and 2,510 square feet and prices start in the $200,000s.

Finally, Miramonte Homes scooped up four more townhome lots at La Reserve Villas, in La Reserve, Oro Valley, for $220,000 ($55,000 per lot), also as a rolling option. The villas feature one- and two-story units that range from 1,520 to 1,993 square feet. Prices begin in the high $200,000s.
