Last week, homebuilder CalAtlantic announced the grand openings of two new communities in the greater Chicago area.

Though located in the state of Indiana, The Gates of St. John is just 31 miles from downtown Chicago in St. John, IN and five miles from the Indiana/Illinois border. The new community includes one-story ranch and two-story home designs that range from three to four bedrooms with an option to add a fifth bedroom. Pricing begins as low as $214,990 for the three-bedroom Cypres model up to a starting price of $304,990 for the four-bedroom Juniper model. According to their site, the community includes 37 total homes, four of which are already sold and two are ready for "quick move-in." The Gates of St. John are seven miles from Route 41 and Route 30 retail and 12.5 miles from the South Shore Rail Line with access to Chicago.

Meanwhile, the company also announce the opening of their townhome community Prairie Pointe in South Elgin, IL. 35 miles west of downtown Chicago, these homes range from 1,495 to 2,221 square feet, Prairie Pointe includes seven three-level townhome blocks that range from two to three bedrooms and up to two-and-a-half baths. Pricing begins at $175,990 for the two-bedroom Foxhall models and goes up to $225,990 for the three-bedroom Easton models. There are seventeen townhomes available overall and no units have been sold as of yet. With a location just two miles from Elgin Metra Station and five miles from the Randall Road corridor, it seems like worthwhile commuter opportunity to check out.
