Chicago-Based Nutrition Company Gets Investment, Plans Move to West Loop
Fulton Market and the West Loop is attracting another growing business, according to a recent report from Crain’s Chicago Business. The fast-growing Vital Proteins, a dietary supplement supplier focusing on collagen products, is looking to find a home at 1201 W. Washington Blvd.
The company is looking to open its headquarters in a 10,000-square-foot space, and both the company and property owner have confirmed that a lease has been signed. Currently, Vital Proteins has its 55 employees working in the heart of Wicker Park.
Vital Proteins announced Nov. 1 that it secured a $19 million investment from CAVU Venture Partners. The investment is a boost to the fast-growing company that has become a leader in the collagen nutrition space.
"Vital Proteins' financial success and popularity is underpinned by products possessing a clean ingredient label, as well as their expertise in digital marketing.” Bader Alam, Senior Vice President at CAVU, said in a press release. “The collagen nutrition space has a lot of room for growth. Vital Proteins is well-positioned to capitalize on that opportunity, given their strong innovation pipeline and differentiated branding."
The company sold its first product in January 2014 and has since grown to have more than 100 employees in their Chicago headquarters and a warehouse in Elk Grove Village. Currently, its products are sold at 8,000 retail stores throughout the country, including Whole Foods, Vitamin Shoppe, and Fresh Thyme Farmers Market.
