The city of Galt has officially grown by 504 acres to the east thanks to the recent annexation of the Eastview Special Plan/Project area, per the Galt Herald.

The annexed land is bordered by State Route 104 to the north, Union Pacific Railroad to the south, Cherokee Road to the east, and Marengo Road to the west. The Eastview Project includes the development of Liberty Ranch, which takes up 338 acres of the project site and will include parks, open space, a school, and other public areas. The entire Eastview area will contain approximately 1,700 residential units, a 9.5-acre commercial site, a 10-acre elementary school site, 11 acres of land for parks, and 49 acres of open space.

The annexed area also includes Liberty Ranch High School. Once the Eastview area’s ongoing development is complete, the Sacramento County city will gain a projected 5,650 residents.

According to City Manager Eugene Palazzo, this annexation is very good news for the city. “The developer-driven annexation shows that the private business community believes in Galt,” City Manager Eugene Palazzo told the Herald. “The developer/applicant put in significant investment to make this happen. The design of the project will fit well with our existing community and builds on the connectivity we have throughout our community.”

Meanwhile, Galt already has another annexation in the works as well. The area north of the city along Twin Cities Road and Highway 99 could soon join Eastview as part of the city of Galt. That annexation is expected to happen in 2018.
